In what situations there is a need for buttock contouring?

As with the face and breasts, the buttocks suffer from tissue loss over time, which results in sagging. There are two main groups of people who can benefit from buttock contouring. The first group has adequate amount of tissue but the buttocks hang downwards. The second group suffers from tissue loss. There are a number of different methods that can be used today for buttock aesthetics.

How is buttock countering performed?

New methods have been developed for buttocks with tissue loss. One of these methods is to replace the lost tissue with fillers. These are the body versions of organic fillings that are used on the face. The advantages of these fillers are that they are injected with needles in 10 minutes, they are dissoluble, organic substances and they are not allergic.

Another method is to use the patient's own tissue. In this method, unwanted fat tissue is extracted with a laser lipo operation and injected into the upper part of the patient's buttocks to create volume on the buttocks. The same process can also be carried out with stem cell enriched fat tissues. Whilst previously only 10% of the fat injected was permanent with the method we call stem cell enrichment, 60% of the injected fat is permanent for life. If there is not enough fat in the patient’s body, implants can be placed from the outside.

In buttock contouring with implant placement, the implants are selected according to the anatomical structure of the buttock. These implants are specially designed to fill the gaps and sides of the buttock and are placed under the buttock, not under the skin. With this method, silicones are more stable, and look natural in the area in which they are placed. To place them, an incision of 3 to 4 cm is made by entering from the gluteal fold (the line between both buttock muscles). Since the implants are placed with the help of an endoscope, the incisions on the skin are kept short, the operation is done safely and the operation time is around 40 minutes.

How long does buttock contouring surgery last?

With today’s technology, buttock contouring surgeries are completed in around 40-60 minutes.

When can the patient go back to normal life after buttock contouring surgery?

Even though it depends on the application, the patient can usually resume normal life after one week .

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main factors to be considered before buttock contouring surgery?

As with all surgical procedures generally, patients should avoid using blood thinners, limit drinking alcohol and smoking as much as possible and ideally, stop altogether in the last couple of days before the surgery.

What factors should be considered after surgery?

This depends on the type of surgery. If implants have been placed or if fat injection has been carried out via liposuction, patients will need to wear a compression garment after surgery. There is no need for special care, other than sleeping face downwards and being careful when sitting and standing up. If implants are used in the surgery, the patient should never have buttock injections.

Are any scars left after buttock contouring?

If the buttock contouring is done with implants, there will be a 3 to 4cm incision scar in the area between the buttocks. Other methods of buttock contouring use injections, so there are no scars.

Which areas are suitable for the derivation of the fat tissue to be injected on buttocks?

The fat tissue needed for buttock contouring can be derived from anywhere in patient’s body where there is excess fat. The tummy, belly, thighs, inner legs and knees are ideal areas for this.

Who are the best candidates for buttock contouring?

Buttock contouring is especially suitable for people who have flat, sagging or asymmetric buttocks, buttocks that are too small compared to their bodies or those who have lost the natural shape of their buttocks as a result of weight loss or age. The method of buttock contouring will be decided during examination and consultation with the patient.
